From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Approximately 1000 on 6/23/2021, aircraft N72DX, an amateur kit built, SD-1 minisport, attempted taking off on a grass strip runway 13 (east) at 0OH5 (Butler, OH). Pilot stated wind sock showed wind coming from the east. He then repositioned aircraft to takeoff to the east. Once aircraft became, airborne, pilot stated he was unable to gain altitude because of high wind gust and downward winds and was forced to his left, off the airstrip and crashed into a cornfield. Aircraft damage includes propeller (3 blades), l/h wing and flap, l/h and nose landing gear, l/h airframe and the l/h wing attachment points at airframe.
