From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Two aircraft were taxiing out to go practice formation flying for joseph, OR airshow. N526KP was lead aircraft, N808LD was second aircraft, piloted by privacy data omitted. N526KP stopped short of runway, waiting for clearance. N808LD was distracted by radio frequency change, looked up saw his closure rate, and applied brakes hard. Aircraft started to tip forward, he released brakes, propeller made contact with rudder and elevators of lead aircraft (N526KP).

Both pilots were current and rated. Medicals current, aircraft annual inspections current, registrations current. No injuries to anyone involved.
