On 07/23/2021, at approximately 10:58 EST, N4445T, a 2019 Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecna- P2006T, s/n: 273/US privacy data omitted was being operated by privacy data omitted to provide flight instruction. The certificated flight instructor (CFI) stated that approximately 3 NM away from the airport he was helping the student pick-up weather and started communication with the other aircraft in the traffic pattern. He communicated that there was a bit of confusion with another aircraft in the downwind and one trying to take off, in addition to them entering the pattern. During this time, the student configured the aircraft for landing. The CFI further stated that he became distracted by the other aircraft in the pattern, did not confirm that the student completed a gumps check, and don't remember looking for the three green indicators. The aircraft landed at Clearwater air park (kclw) on the runway 34 with the landing gear retracted, resulting in substantial damage. The aircraft sustained abrasion damage to the lower fuselage skin that penetrated the skin in numerous places with underlying damage to the frames and stringers over an area estimated to be about 6 feet long by 2 feet wide. The bulkhead aft of the wheel well was also deformed. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The CFI and student pilot were on board the aircraft, no one was injured.
