From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While on final to I74 aircraft N443JB experience engine failure. With insufficient altitude to attempt a restart or glide to runway pilot made emergency landing. Aircraft came to rest in a soybean field approximately 3000 feet from approach end of runway 20.

During investigation it was noted that fuel selector was on right tank. Inspection of fuel tanks revealed right tank to be empty and left tank to be full. There was no evidence of fuel leak at crash site.

Investigation also revealed there was no descent or landing checklist in the aircraft that would have directed the pilot to switch fuel tanks.
