What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot flew to a grass airstrip belonging to a friend and made a full stop approximately 9 miles southeast of M91. After taking off again he flew a pattern around the grass strip, did a touch-and-go, and as he was climbing, at approximately 400 feet he said the engine completely stopped. There was no sputter or indication it was going to fail. At that time he knew he had to get the airplane down safely and looked for the closest field he felt would work.
The aircraft sustained significant damage to the right wing, propeller, and landing gear.
Upon inspection of the engine fuel and oil were present, ignition system was checked and all spark plugs fired. The engine inspection gave no indication of cause of failure.
