From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During flight training for a multi engine rating, the cfi/mei had the asel rated private pilot perform an emergency descent and a simulated engine out condition.

During attempted recovery from the dive, crew states they were unable to obtain sufficent pitch authority to fully arrest descent resulting in a forced landing in a field. The resulting hard landing sheared off nose and main landing gear and caused prop strikes on both engines shattering all six prop blades and causing substantial damage to inboard section of right wing.

Post accident inspection and testing of aircraft and its systems did not reveal any defects or abnormalities that could have caused the accident other than the position of the pitch trim.

As the FAA filed it
