From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While raising gear following t/o, SIC noted the knob on the landing gear handle felt loose. During the descent, his attention was returned to the l/g handle when he noticed a set screw coming out of the side of the knob on the l/g handle. He felt the screw and then wiggled the l/g handle. Upon wiggling the l/g handle, the gear unsafe light came on, a momentary illumination of the hydraulic press light, and the sound of air rushing, (similar to the sound which happens when the landing gear cycle begins.) He immediately ensured the handle was in the up and locked position, the cycle of the l/g stopped. The PIC slowed the a/c to below 200 KTS, at which time the l/g unsafe light extinguished. They continued the flight below 200 KTS.

Upon post flight inspection, they noted the left main l/g door was missing from the aircraft.

Estimated altitude at time of event was 17000' descending. Estimated airspeed was 270 KTS.

As the FAA filed it
