From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After extensive engine run up, engine failed just after takeoff. Rpms dropped to about 5K, which produced stable flight. Pilot decided to return to runway, but engine went to idle as he turned. Without power he crashed into an open field. The pilot stated, "I know that as the RPM dropped, I made a gentle turn to the right to avoid the home and then tried to flare but with no speed or altitude to play with all I did was pancake and maybe slid 20' at most."
