From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft purposely approached to land on a unimproved farm field. The approach was with a tailwind. Pilot was aware of the tailwind and tried to plan accordingly. At flare for landing, aircraft continued to float for approximately 1500 feet. Eventually aircraft was on the ground with little runway left. Aircraft exited the farm field, hit a ditch prior to a road, nose gear departed the aircraft and aircraft skidded to a stop on the other side of the road. Aircraft came to rest on the engine cowling.
