What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
N310CC was in the traffic pattern at Corona, CA (kajo) for runway 25 in left traffic. The mission was to provide a final practice session for privacy data omitted, in preparation for his multiengine instructor checkride the next day. The CFI conducting the training privacy data omittedafter climbing to pattern altitude on the 4th or 5th circuit, privacy data omitted induced a simulated engine failure to demonstrate and instruct single engine pattern operations. After passing the downwind abeam the numbers position, the aircraft began descending in preparation for a shorter than standard pattern to avoid a noise sensitive area on the downwind leg. The engine was not secure until the base leg, just before turning to a very short final approach. There was a discussion during the base to final turn about the appropriate flap setting. The flaps were set to 15 degrees. At this point the gear is still not down, and no gumps or before landing checklist had been run. The flaps were not down FAR enough to activate the gear up warning horn. As privacy data omittedbegan to flare privacy data omitted looked at the gear position (up) and at this point the props were striking the ground and the aircraft settled onto the runway and no warning horn was heard. The aircraft skidded to a stop. There was no post-accident fire. No one was injured.
