From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC privacy data omitted was receiving a check out in the Cessna R182 from a CFI on 1/16/22. He is a commercial pilot with retractable landing gear aircraft experience, but had not flown the CE-R182 before 1/15/22. On day of incident he was practicing touch and go landings as PIC with CFI on board at bdn and landed on rwy 16 for a full stop landing. During landing roll out he retracted flaps, pushed in carburetor heat control, and then selected gear up handle. Aircraft was still in motion and not settled down enough to keep nose gear squat switch from opening and MLG began retract sequence while rolling down the runway. Nose gear retracted completely and aircraft settle on nose damaging engine, propeller, and nose cowl. No injuries reported. Chief pilot for flight school notified NTSB roc of incident but did not wait for NTSB iic to call back and release airplane before removing it from runway and bringing it to the owner's hangar.
