What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Investigation: pilot was out checking trap lines. He had recent previous experience with the landing location. The intent of his approach and landing was to ?drag? The skis to mark a landing path and test the conditions of the snow. The touchdown was protected from a ridge but on rollout it exposed the airplane to a crosswind. The crosswind forced the aircraft toward a tree. The pilot attempted a go-around but the wingtip clipped the tree and cartwheeled the aircraft.
Root cause: the accident was due to attempting to land a ski plane with a crosswind.
