What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
During landing on at a snow covered off airport field, the solo pilot made several passes over the landing area. During final approach the pilot reported the natural lighting had changed to "flat" light. He determined he misjudged his height above the ground and did a very hard landing. Once touching down, both ski gear collapsed, leading to the propeller being bent and the cowling slightly dented. No other damage to the aircraft was caused by landing. No injuries to the solo pilot, no fire.
