From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The incident occurred on February 24, 2022, and was reported through the regional operations center (roc) on February 25, 2022. The incident aircraft, had a wing tip strike during landing on runway 07R at Milwaukee Mitchell international airport (kmke), Milwaukee, WI. Kmke weather at the time was visual meteorological conditions with winds gusting to 19 knots, in light snow. The incident aircraft accumulated moderate rime icing during the descent and approach. The de-ice system was incorrectly operated, resulting in excessive windshield icing, leading to reduced forward visibility and was a contributing factor to the incident. During the landing phase, the aircraft speed decayed below the recommended approach and landing procedure, which contributed to loss of wing lift and resulted in a hard landing and wing tip strike. The aircraft suffered minor damage to the right wing tip bottom, right outboard aileron trailing edge and right gear door. Two crewmembers were on board, no injuries reported. An FAA principal maintenance inspector (pmi) and NTSB inspectors reviewed photographs of the damage and determined it to be minor damage.

As the FAA filed it
