From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot departed from salmon, ID (ksmn) at 1600 local. After a prolonged flight due to strong headwinds, the pilot arrived in bonner's Ferry, ID (K65S), and made an attempt to land. The first attempt resulted in a bounce and the pilot executed a go-around. On the second attempt the aircraft bounced again and the pilot added power to stabilize and bring the aircraft back to the runway. The pilot made a wheel landing. When the tailwheel touched down the pilot experienced a powerful swerve to the right, and countered with full left rudder. This caused the left wingtip to strike the runway. The aircraft struck a snow/ice bank causing damage to the left wing, left elevator, propeller and main landing gear.
