From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The acft was reported that it veered off RWY33 causing minor damage to the LH landing gear frt landing gear cowling, prop strike, and damaged to a rwy taxi light. The acft was able to taxi back to the parking spot on its own power. After interviewing the student pilotprivacy data omitted and contracted CFI, the student pilot mentioned a gust of wind caused the pilot to lose control and veer off the RWY33. Could not confirm sudden change in weather, however, witness marks in the dirt confirm the pilots account.

There were no airworthiness issues discovered. Annual completed 1/7/2022 at privacy data omitted.

The inspection team inspected the area the sign was hit by the propeller. The witness marks in the dirt confirm that the aircraft was on the right main when it went off the runway. The left main and nose gear came down just before the propeller hit the direction sign. Witness marks also indicate deeper gouges in the dirt where brakes were applied to stop the aircraft without further damage or injury. The aircraft was able to taxi back to parking spot on its own power.
