What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On August 26, 2022, at approximately 1155 CST, a Piper arrow ii, N6878J, was performing pattern work at Kingfisher Airport (F92) Kingfisher, Oklahoma. The pilot stated he initially became distracted by another aircraft in the pattern announcing their intentions to land. This distraction caused the pilot to lose focus on following his landing checklist and he subsequently missed the step where he was to lower the landing gear. Consequently, the aircraft landed with gear up and came to rest in the middle of the runway. Aircraft damage was minimal to the underside of the aircraft but the propeller did receive extensive damage due to the sudden stoppage once it contacted the runway. The pilot was not injured and the aircraft was then moved off the runway by airport personnel and relocated to a hangar for storage and eventual repair. Verbal counseling was performed over the phone stressing the importance of following the aircraft checklist through all phases of flight and documented through sas activity SW15202201966.
