From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 14, 2022 at 20:25 subject aircraft was departing Essex County Airport (kcdw) RWY28. Pilot reported that he struck a deer on takeoff. Subject airman states, "on reaching vr, I rotated normally and what must have been just a few seconds after becoming airborne, I saw a deer enter the runway from left to right and heard a slight thump from under the aircraft. Once airborne and having achieved a positive rate of climb, I told ATC that I believe I had hit a deer and would like to come around to land. ATC handed me back to tower frequency and I stayed with tower for the next 20 mins or so, circling nw of the field while ground operations made sure the runway was clear. Upon receiving clearance to do so, I made a low approach to confirm my gear was down and locked and then proceeded to make a normal visual approach and landing."

No selection of FAA nine responsibilities will be selected in block 42, due to wildlife strike.
