From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During an instruction flight while climbing through 2800-3500FT, the aircraft experienced a loss of power, with an indicated engine speed of about 1500RPM due windmilling because no thrust was detected. The CFI then took control of the flight controls and pitched the aircraft for glide speed, declared an emergency to Ocala ATC, and landed in a field 2NM north of X35. The CFI intentionally landed with the landing gear in the stowed position due to the uneven terrain. Both propellor tips were bent, as well as underside skin damage. The wings were subsequently de-mated and fuselage removed from the empennage by recovery personnel for transport.

As the FAA filed it
