From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilotprivacy data omitted stated that he performed his walk around/prefight at santa paula (szp) prior to departure. And took off for his home base in Camarillo (cma). Upon landing at cma and returning to his hangarprivacy data omittedhe noticed damage to the backside of his propeller and a hole in the upper pilots side of the front engine cowling near the air inlet. He does not remember striking anything or recalling any strange sound or an impact during the duration of the flight. The cowling hole did not appear to be large enough to allow what ever hit to complete the entry into the engine compartment and there did not appear to have entered the engine area. We have been unable to determine what actually struck the propeller and hit the engine coweling.
