From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot had completed several practice approaches at Lexington County Airport (6J0) and then performed a practice autorotation with the throttle in the idle position. During the touch down phase of the manuever the aircraft did not slide on the runway but came to an abrupt stop a few feet from the touchdown point. The pilot felt vibrations in the controls and shut the aircraft down in place. Post accident inspection of the aircraft revealed damage to the rotor blades, tail boom and the tail rotor drive shaft.
