From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The second pilot listed above was at the controls (in the front seat) of the aircraft while it was attempting to land at 11PN (Eakin Airport) in Franklin, PA. The aircraft had made 2 previous attempts to land at the airport. The first attempt was a low pass only, the second attempt resulted in a go around. During the third attempt to land, the aircraft landed normally on the left half of the runway (as confirmed by the wheel markings in the grass).

After landing, the ground slope and right quartering tailwind pushed the aircraft towards the trees on the western side of the runway. The aircraft struck the trees along the western side of the runway pulling the aircraft further into the trees until it struck a tree trunk with the left wing. The aircraft then spun around 90 degrees striking the right wing into another tree before coming to rest. The aircraft had significant damage to the nose, left wing tip, right wing (mid), and tail sections (bent aircraft frame near the horizontal stab. Attachment) of the aircraft.
