On Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 at 1201 local time, privacy data omitted, landed at Chatham Municipal Airport (kcqx). The pilot approached the runway very fast and was correcting the aircraft for a right crosswind, due to the high speed he floated until finally touching down approximately halfway down the runway. The pilot stated that his feet got tangled up trying to correct the rudder for the crosswind and he was unable to properly apply brake pressure. As he approached the end of the runway he was at a speed of approximately 20 knots and decided to divert into the grass, right of the runway. The aircraft departed the runway approximately 600 feet from the end, slid sideways in the grass/dirt creating divots along the way and striking a taxi light, then came to rest on the adjacent taxiway. The pilot started the engine, taxied the aircraft back to the ramp and shut down. During these events the propeller sustained damage and the nose wheel pant broke off. There were no injuries.
