From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. An airline transport pilot (ATP) was operating a Cessna 310D departing from tyler pounds regional airport (ktyr) and arriving at Lansing Municipal Airport (kigq). The flight was conducted under visual meteorological conditions (VMC) and using visual flight rules (VFR). The nearest automated weather observation station (AWOS) reported calm winds and clear skies. METAR kigq 042055Z auto 00000KT 10SM clr 22/05 A3018 rmk AO2 T02210051. There were no injuries to the pilot or passenger on board. The aircraft sustained minor damage.

The pilot in command (PIC) traveled to ktyr to privacy data omitted of the Cessna 310D after recently privacy data omitted. The PIC departed ktyr with a passenger enroute to kigq where he intended to drop off his passenger before continuing to joliet regional airport (kjot), the aircraft’s new home base. The PIC stated that while on final approach to runway 27 at kigq, he observed the precision approach path indicator (PAPI) transition from indicating on glide path to above glide path. He stated that he lowered the nose to recapture the glide path, but did not reduce power. He indicated that he was fast and high on final approach and that as he began to flare, he floated a significant distance. The pilot indicated that the aircraft touched down just past taxiway c with approximately 1000 feet remaining. After touchdown the pilot utilized maximum braking, locking the brakes, resulting in the blowout of both tires. The aircraft slid past the runway threshold and came to rest at the end of the blast pad/stopway with the left main in the grass. There was no damage to the medium intensity runway lights (mirl).
