What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
IFR flight from 14A to FD88 (Aero Acres) airport.
PIC stated, "GPS said "arrived", looked out the window and saw a beautiful, welcoming, wide grass strip lined on both sides by houses. Landed successfully and as the plane slowed the landing roll the left main entered wet grass and soft soil and pulled aircraft to the left and slid down a soggy, slight incline coming to a stop before a broken plastic fence with numerous missing sections."
No impact, no injuries to the pilot, no damage to the aircraft. No landing gear damage only a turned nose wheel fairing.
PIC used a crane to lift the plane from the muck, took it to FD88 a very short distance to the south, then departed for ktmb early afternoon on the 8th.
PIC stated, "the non-runway turned out to be a horse farm. Solid earth in the center of the area but soggy ground on either side, impossible to see from the air or even after landing. Hope the airport guys can flag this place before other pilots become numbers on the list of those who have unhappily landed here."
PIC stated, "I look forward to some useful counseling. Never too old to learn new tricks - like doing a bit more homework on airparks. I've landed at many over the years, mostly with grass strips - but I should have checked in more detail this time. "
