From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. The only occupants of the airplane were the commercial rated flight instructor and the student pilot, both were uninjured. According to both instructor and student statements, during the final approach, the student pilot elected to execute a go-around. During the round-out/flare, the lower surface of the fuselage, aft of the main landing gear, impacted the runway threshold lights and the tail struck the surface of the blast pad causing substantial damage to the airplane. The training flight continued for several additional landings and maneuvers before returning to peachtree city- falcon field airport (kffc), peachtree city, GA.
