From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Okeechobee, FL (obe): privacy data omitted, PA-24-260, experienced a nose gear collapse upon landing on runway 23.

Aircraft was towed from the runway. No on field facility to investigate cause. Reason: unknown; POB: 2; injuries: none; damage: extent unknown. 01/19/2023 1740Z (12:40EST)

Pilot statement departed home base, witham field (sua), to do some touch n’ go landings at Okeechobee (obe). After about 7 landings the gear down was put down midfield, landed on runway centerline, and felt the gear collapse. The pilot then noticed the prop hitting the ground and the plane skidded to a stop. The plane stopped at approximately 2000’ from the threshold coming to rest on the south edge of the runway. A passenger, a private pilot, noticed 3 green lights on final approach, and also felt the main gear first contact the runway. They both stated that the main gear seemed to collapse when the nose gear touched down shortly after the mains, the landing was normal before the collapse, and the aircraft did not bounce.

Unable to determan cause of gear up landing. Examinination of landing gear and indication systems for malfuction was not made avaiable. Passenger stated 3 green lights prior to landing. Landing gear indicator lights consist of 1-green 1-amber 1-white. All 3 landing gear cable ends were bent showing gear was not fully down and locked. Reason unkown.

THE PILOT THEN NOTICED THE PROP HITTING THE GROUND AND THE PLANE SKIDDED TO A STOP. THE PLANE STOPPED AT APPROXIMATELY 2000’ FROM THE THRESHOLD COMING TO REST ON THE SOUTH EDGE OF THE RUNWAY.
