From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On March 11, 2023, at approximately 11:54 PST, mishap aircraft was in the final stages of loading at San Francisco International (sfo) to operate to cincinnati, oh (cvg). The contract ramp team was actively loading final bags when a baggage cart agent driving a tug with 2 carts caught the chocked belt loader positioned on the forward baggage compartment and dragged it into the number 2 engine on the right-hand side of the aircraft. The aircraft sustained moderate damage to the number 2 engine cowling, was removed from service, and the flight cancelled. During the post-incident debrief, the contracted company acknowledged their ramp team failed to install a required cone at the end of the belt loader to ensure at least 3 feet distance between baggage carts and the belt loader. Furthermore, the contracted company stated the bag cart driver did not hear the other ramp agents yelling at him to stop after he clipped the belt loader and dragged it approximately 20 feet because of his hearing protection.
