From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft had completed 3 1-hour flights on return from airshow at scott a.f.b. refueled aircraft at madisonville regional airport, KY (K2I0) and departed for home station of bowling green, KY. Approximately 10 minutes after departure, at 1500 ft. AGL, without prior indication the engine ceased operation. On the 3rd attempt at re-start, engine started and attained full power for approx. 10 seconds before ceasing operation again. Additional attempts at re-start failed, pilot began searching for a suitable area to touch down. The pilot selected a rough, open field and landed the aircraft, which bounced and then settled to the ground again. On second touch down, the landing gear was torn from the aircraft which stopped its motion immediately. Pilot and passenger exited the aircraft and contacted authorities.
