From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed kafp at approximately 1630 local time. The pilot climbed to an alitiude of 3200 feet MSL heading northwest. Approximately 10 minutes into the flight the engine quit. The pilot turned 180 degrees towards the airport of departure. The pilot switched to the second fuel pump and also placed the fuel selector on the right tank. The engine restarted. Approximately 6 to 7 minutes later the engine quit for the second time. The pilot decided at this point to discontinue troubleshooting and picked out a field for an emergency landing. During the landing the right gear struck a tree top causing the aircraft to roll to the right. The aircraft landed inverted at the base of a tree. The pilot stated that prior to departing kafp that the fuel in both tanks was brought up to approximately 20 gallons giving a total of 40 gallons of fuel on the aircraft.
