From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 5/27/2023, the Highlander was participating in theprivacy data omitted waivered event at the privacy data omitted at Wayne municipal airport/Stan Morris field (klcg) in Wayne, NE. When holding short of the race starting line, and with the countdown to the commencement of the race beginning, the pilot increased engine throttle while engaging the main landing gear wheel brakes. This caused the tail of the aircraft to rise aggressively as the aircraft pitched about its main landing gear wheels. The pilot attempted to correct the tail rise by reducing throttle to idle, resulting in a loss of aerodynamic effectiveness of the horizontal stabilizer. Momentum continued to pitch the aircraft about its main landing gear wheels, resulting in the propeller making contact with the ground, and the aircraft coming to rest on its nose. Ground contact of the propeller caused one of the three blades to separate near the hub of the propeller, and another of the three blades to separate near the propeller tip. No other physical damage occurred as a result of the incident.

As the FAA filed it

ON 5/27/2023, THE HIGHLANDER WAS PARTICIPATING IN THE^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAIVERED EVENT AT THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AT WAYNE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT/STAN MORRIS FIELD (KLCG) IN WAYNE, NE.
