From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman was performing a flight for an air ambulance company. After a drop-off at the deer valley airport (kdvt), the aircraft was returned to its home base with a fuel stop at blythe, CA. The airman was alerted to an overspeed condition and the airman decided to enter an autorotational profile, rapid descent to landing. The engines were not retarded to idle or off. The airman continued the descent to an abrupt landing. The aircraft remained upright. The airman performed an emergency shutdown and the crew exited the aircraft with no injuries. The aircraft was recovered by the certificate holder and analysis was performed on the aircraft. The NTSB has not yet determined the severity of the incident. Should the severity be determined to be an accident, an amendment to this report will be submitted.
