From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 11, 2023 at approximately 1700L, the aircraft was flying the pattern at Washington County Airport (8WC) with the PIC and one passenger. The takeoff was normal, the PIC noted that the aircraft was making good power. The aircraft climbed to approximately 400-500 feet AGL and turned downwind. At this time the PIC heard an abnormal noise behind the aircraft along with a jerk and shutter. The PIC manuevered the aircraft for a precautionary landing in an open field. Upon touchdown, the aircraft bounced and rolled over onto it's right side. The two occupants exited the aircraft and were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The engine air filter, which is normally located immediately forward of the pusher prop, was not located on the engine or near the aircraft at the accident site. Further attempts to locate the air filter were made by the aircraft owner. This report may be amended upon receiving additional information. It is undertermined if the airfilter came off in flight or as a result of the accident impact.
