From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The reno FSDO received a phone call from the Susanville airport manager on 6/28/2023 that a tail wheel aircraft had ground looped at the Spaulding airfield at eagle lake, California. The airpot manager drove to the Spaulding airfield and took pictures of the mishap aircraft and emailed them to the FAA inspector. The aircraft had already been moved off the runway and was in a parking spot on the ramp. The pilot was not there at the time of the airport manager's visit. The aircraft had damage to the prop, spinner, engine cowling and main gear struts. NTSB ruled this damage as minimal and an incident. The FAA made contact with the pilot who stated that during the takeoff roll on runway 16 at Spaulding 1Q2 the aircraft veered to the left into the weeds. The pilot did state that he encountered a crosswind that contributed to inicident.
