From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was flying from boerne, TX to pearland regional airport. The pilot observed the aircraft was low on fuel and would not reach the intended destination. The pilot requested instructions from ATC to the nearest airfield with fuel resources. ATC directed the aircraft to Lane Airpark.

The aircraft lost power on the downwind approach to the runway. The pilot diverted directly to the runway. The aircraft touched down approximately mid-field.

The aircraft bounced into the air several times. The aircraft overshot the runway impacting fence posts on the leading edge of both the right and left wings. The right wing then impacted an excavator that was parked outside of the airport. The arm of the excavator penetrated the fuel tank creating a very large opening. No evidence of fuel was observed at the impact site or in the fuel tank. The left wing contained a very small amount of fuel that could not be observed through the fueling port.

As the FAA filed it
