From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The PIC of this aircraft stated that he had not flown for 4 months prior to this incident because the aircraft was in maintenance. The PIC was unfamiliar with the pattern at vgt and said the increased chatter coming from the tower, due to increased traffic in the area, confused him and he simply forgot to lower the landing gear. He heard the gear horn but he thought it was the stall horn. No mechanical factors contributed to this event. The pilot stated that he was not fatigued, not under the influence of alcohol, and was not on any medication at the time.
