From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student pilot had completed a supervised solo which included two traffic patterns and landings. After the last landing, he asked for and received ATC instruction to land on the compass rose on the west ramp. As he approached, he noticed there was an airplane on the compass rose. He chose a spot to land 150' south of the compass rose. As he descended, he noticed another airplane enter the ramp from the south heading north. He added collective, but did not add the required extra tail rotor pedal and the helicopter started to rotate. The student lowered the collective all the way. The helicopter dropped from about 30'. After contact with the ramp, it slid for about 10'. There were no injuries.
