From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The airman was giving tailwheel instruction in his stearman with a student in the rear seat. He was demonstrating a wheel landing when the accident occurred. The nose swerved to the right suddenly as he lowered the tailwheel and he began his left rudder correction. The airman was late making the appropriate control inputs to stop the nose from swinging to the right. As the plane ground looped to the right, the left wing contacted the runway resulting in damage to the wing. It also rocked briefly and the right-wing tip contacted the runway causing cosmetic damage to the wing tip fabric.
