From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This was the aircraft's first flight since conditional inspection and carberator maintenance. Both carbs on aircraft engine were rebuilt and a run up was completed prior to takeoff. All checks were good. Engine and aircraft reacted nominally down runway, as soon as aircraft was airborne pilot notice loss of power in #1 and #3 cylinders. Per pilot, #1 and #3 cylinders were not producing power or EGT indications. While losing altitude, pilot spotted closest and clearest landing spot that he could identify. NLG struck dirt birm due to loss of power but was able to land without injuries. Multiple others spotted aircraft after it had landed, fire rescue secured the scene. No issues identified with the 9 responsibilities of the FAA. NTSB plans to pull the engine at a later date for testing/teardown. If further information is found that affects any responsibilities of the FAA, this -23 will be amended and corrections made.

As the FAA filed it
