From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This was the third leg of the day. The first two engine starts were uneventful. The first took place in kiso, the second in krdu, both using gpu for engine start. In all three instances the gen switches were "off" for engine starting.

In kmmu on the right engine was started first using the gpu. After depressing the start button the voltage draw on the gpu went to just below 10V but as soon as the engine came on speed it increased back to 28.5V on the indicator. Also, during the right engine start multiple cas messages were illumintate that went away after the engine was running and the starter had disengaged. During the left engine start the same voltage drop was noted as the starter engaged. Again, multiple cas messages were illuminated. The left engine was much slower to start and with no itt indication by the 10 second mark, the starter was disengaged. The line person signaled to shut down. No fire indication was observed by the crew. The PIC immediately shut down the aircraft completely and exited to asked what was wrong. The ground crew indicated fire had shot out the tail pipe. The PIC went around and observed a fire still burning in the tail pipe area of the engine. The PIC immediately went back to the cabin and had the passengers exit the aircraft. Assistance from the fire department was requested. The fire was extingueshed with a hand held fire extinguesher.

As the FAA filed it

ASSISTANCE FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS REQUESTED.THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUESHED WITH A HAND HELD FIRE EXTINGUESHER.
