What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot attempted a landing, but was unhappy with the flare. He said he was concerned he was too flat, and that it would porpoise, so he did a go-around. During the go-around, he debated pulling the gear up, and initially decided not to, but then did pull it up out of habit. When he returned for landing, he forgot that he had pulled the gear up, since he remembered debating and deciding to leave it down. He completed his gumps check, but for the gear, relied on his memory, not the gear indication light or handle position, and as a result, landed with the gear in the up position.
