From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 02/2/2024, the pilot in command was operating a Hartline pulsar 1 experimental build aircraft with serial number 165. He was departing Harry P Williams Memorial Airport (ptn) Louisiana at approximately 1615 local time via rwy 24 heading west. The PIC was traveling alone under CFR part 91 operations. Shortly after takeoff, the engine stopped working and would not re-engage. The PIC attempted to land the aircraft but lost control and crashed the aircraft after hitting the airport fence line facing northbound towards runway 24 a few minutes after takeoff. The aircraft caught on fire after ground impact and was destroyed on scene. The pilot was able to escape the wreckage and was transported to a local hospital to receive medical attention for his injuries.
