From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed VFR from F45 airport for FD38 airport. Aircraft landed wheels up at FD38 airport. Due to the amphibious design of the aircraft, only minimum damage occurred and is limited to pavement scuffing on the hull's aft keel and aft left chine.

Pilot reported that he failed to deploy the landing gear. Pilot is low time and has a positive attitude toward safety and compliance with no previous accidents, incidents or violations.

A contributing factor is in the inherent design of amphibious aircraft which do not have landing gear warning systems normally found in retractable gear aircraft.

As the FAA filed it
