From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On may 1, 2024 at 1850Z a CFI and private pilot were flying a Cessna 172 doing a power-off 180 (simulated enging out). The aircraft touched the ground a few feet prior to the runway then the airman attempted a go-around due to failed landing and applied full power at the time of touchdown. The aircraft then went airborn and did a power-on stall, turns left and went into the grass flipping over on its back. The aircraft came to rest in the grass just prior to the PAPI lights on runway 34 at kdmw, Westminster Maryland.
