From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed rwy 26 at Capital City Airport. At 1500' MSL, the pilot was instructed by ATC to make a left turn to a heading of 180 degrees. At approximately 2500' MSL, the aircraft struck a bald eagle on the left wing. The pilot returned to Capital City and landed without incident.

The aircraft sustained damage on the leading edge of left wing approximately 6 feet from wing root. NTSB concurs that the extent of the damage classifies the event as an incident. Repairs are to be made at a maintenance facility in toms river NJ. After a temporary repair is made, the privacy data omitted/operator will initiate a request for a ferry permit to relocate aircraft to the repair facility.
