From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Thursday, may 30,2024 the pilot flew to airport 48X to pick up approximately 35 gallons of fuel. After refueling pilot states he taxied to full length of grassfield runway at about 1230 and prepared for a short field takeoff with all characteristics of the aircraft operating normally. Pilot states setting up for full length departure, applying the brakes , flaps and full throttle. At approximately 5/8 down runway, airspeed was indicated and moving towards rotation speed when a wind gust quickly took the aircraft off the ground about 10-15 feet and then back down to the ground. Pilot initiated an aborted takeoff with approximately 800 feet of runway remaining. Realizing there may be not enough room to stop, pilot re-applied full to try to get back into the air. This attempt was unsuccessful and aircraft ended up 100 yards off the runway. One pilot was on board with no injuries and aircraft is destroyed.
