From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 06/01/2024 at approximately 1248 local a TH55 helicopter departed klci airport enroute to a local residence in Danbury NH on a solo training flight. The pilot held a fixed wing single engine land rating and was appropriately endorsed to perform solo flights in the accident helicopter as a student pilot and was the sole occupant. During the approach to land phase of the flight at the local residence in Danbury NH the pilot encountered wind conditions which caused the helicopter to depart controlled flight followed by crashing into trees and vegetation near the confined landing area. The helicopter was subsequently destroyed in a post-crash fire. The pilot was transported by ambulance to the hospital with severe injuries. The pilot is currently recovering.
