From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed kmsy without incident but while climbing through approximately 30000 ft the pilot windshield unexpectedly shattered but remained intact. The pilot then stopped the climb and requested a descent to 10000 ft where he and the first officer further assessed the situation and followed the aircraft quick reference handbook (qrh) procedures. The pilot then requested and received ATC clearance to return to the departure airport where the aircraft landed uneventfully and the windshield was replaced.

As the FAA filed it
