From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was performing take offs and landings for night currency. During one of the touch and go sequences a deer ran onto the runway and was struck by the aircraft. The pilot reported that after landing he retracted the flaps and had applied power to take off. Several seconds after applying power the deer ran onto the runway too close to the aircraft to be avoided. The deer was struck by the propeller on the right side of the aircraft damaging the lower right corner of the firewall, right-wing leading-edge approximately 18 inches long and created several golf ball sized dents on the underside of the aircraft. The pilot successfully slowed the aircraft after impact with the deer and taxied back to the ramp.
