What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The flight crew was in level flight at 4500 ft, approximately 40 minutes from Houma. At that point, it was observed that the #2 engine oil pressure was dropping and fluctuating from the green to yellow range. After accessing the situation, the crew elected to return to base instead of landing offshore. Shortly after turning around, the oil pressure continued to drop and went below the minimum threshold resulting in the #2 oil pressure low warning cas message indication. The crew executed the procedure listed in the quick reference handbook (qrh) which resulted in the #2 engine eventually being shut down. As a precautionary measure, the crew declared an emergency and subsequently landed in Houma on runway 30 without further incident.
As the FAA filed it
THE FLIGHT CREW WAS IN LEVEL FLIGHT AT 4500 FT, APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES FROM HOUMA.
